Concept identification (Pat)

Focus issue: Identity and reputation
There are many ways we as individuals are perceived on social media's, the ways in we present and what we present to our followers represents our perceived identity and reputation.

Media manipulation is a way people often tweak little details or share only certain things to their social medias. This usually is done to either mask an identity trait or to be perceived in a certain way, whatever to their liking.

Before accidentally becoming a victim to media manipulation is to ask yourself a few contextual questions prior to posting something such as:
  - Why is it important to me to present my reputation and identity on social media in a certain way?
  - Does the content i post affect my identity and reputation?
  - What are the pros and cons to presenting skewed and/or accurate identity and reputation?
  - Does your identity and reputation differ from different platforms? do you change your identity based on these platforms and who you interact with?

Another thing to consider is the audience who receive your media, and how they are directly affected? Companies and business target certain profiles based on interests and identity using complex algorithms. By posting somewhat false media to skew your identity and reputation you may be wrongly targeted by their target markets. Also the people around you may treat you differently to how they should based on possible false identity on social medias.

Medium/format to communicate/visualise/prototype your design

My group and i brainstormed a few ideas in ways we can combat this focus issue. some of our modes to present these ideas include:
  - App
  - Website
  - Presentation
  - Plugin/extension
  - Prototype object
  - eBook

After considering what we could create with these modes we came up with the idea of an app that allows you to curate and separate media you post that are authentic and media that is manipulated, though we deemed it a difficult task to prototype and not as affective as other ideas (see figure 1).

Another idea was an authenticity check, we wanted to do this via a plugin or extension, it would pop up a notification before you post asking "is this post authentic to your identity?"  or something along those lines (see figure 2).
Finally we drew off our 2nd idea to formulate our main idea. We decided to keep the idea of a plugin/extension that would be linked with a range of popular social medias and was ask you a series of short questions/stages in order to determine whether or not what you are about to post is authentic to you and an accurate perception, this draws off the contextual questions mentioned above. A considered name for the plugin/extension was 'Four Real?' It would work by presenting 4 stages of questions dubbed by us, 1. One real, 2. Too Real, 3. Be Real, 4. For Real. (see figure 3)
